If I have a domestic partner, is it possible for them to own my life insurance policy?
It is very hard to give your domestic partner the ownership of your assets, unless you live in a community property state. To make this task much more easier it is important that you make your domestic partner own your life insurance policy. You will most likely need to state your relationship with your domestic partner and why you want them to own your policy in a letter and send it to your life insurance company when you are applying. Just keep in mind that once you give ownership to your domestic partner, they will have the right to change anything on the policy. If you are no longer with your domestic partner, you will loose the rights to having a say in who benefits on your life insurance policy.
