If you are the beneficiary listed on a life insurance policy, it is important that you contact the nearest office of the insurance provider. You can visit the office in person in order to file a claim, or give the company a call for the proper instructions if the insurance company does not have an office located in your area.
Make sure you bring all of the documents relating to the policy that you have in your possession when you go to file a claim. You will also need the death certificate of the insured party. If the insured had multiple policies from different insurance agencies, an agent from one of these companies may possibly even volunteer to take care of the other claims for you. This is a common occurrence and there is nothing wrong with allowing the representative to handle it if that is what you desire. Just make sure that the agent gives you a receipt for all of the policies.
