What Happens to the Medical Information I Disclose on My Life Insurance Application?

It is used only for underwriting insurance purposes.

However, there is an organization known as the Medical Information Bureau (MIB), which is located in Boston. The purpose of this organization helps check the accuracy of some information that is asked for on applications, and because of this, certain excerpts from the application may be shared with this insurance industry organization.

Your insurance company must get your written consent; however, before releasing any medical data that you have given them, either directly from yourself or in application form. They must also have this consent to be given any information from MIB.

To find out more about the MIB, ask your insurance company or go to their website (www.mib.com) to learn more about who they are and what they do.

Other than the MIB, no medical information will be released or used for any other purposes by your insurance company.
